Read time · 2:28 minOn Wednesday 8 July the hybrid launch event of the Swiss-Ukrainian Municipal Project Preparation Facility (PPF), also referred to as PPF4Ukraine, was held in Kyiv. More than 300 people attended; about 60 were offline.
The PPF4Ukraine has been launched by the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine (MinDev) and the Swiss Government to facilitate a lean PPF that focusses on infrastructure projects in energy, water and urban mobility at the municipal level. It runs till 2030.
Highlights:
✅ The Operations Manual outlining the stages of the project cycle within the PPF4Ukraine was presented;
✅ A specially designed website was launched; it is bilingual (Ukrainian and English) and provides, among others, the Operations Manual;
✅ Cooperation agreements regarding the development of two projects – one in Kryvyi Rih (energy), another in Vinnytsia (water) – were signed.
Representatives from the MinDev, including Ms Alona Shkrum, First Deputy Minister, and Ms Maryna Denysiuk, Deputy Minister, the Swiss Government, including Mr Jean-Luc Bernasconi, Head of International Cooperation at the Embassy of Switzerland in Ukraine, and Mr Giroud Silvio, Programme Manager, SECO Economic Cooperation and Development, and Ukrainian municipalities, including Mr Yevhen Udod, First Deputy Mayor, Krivyi Rih, and Mr Vladyslav Skalskyy, Deputy Mayor, Vinnytsia, warmly welcomed the PPF4Ukraine. Furthermore, they emphasized the need for cooperation and open dialogue among stakeholders to ensure that the facility will produce concrete results.
Mario Ortner, Team Leader, Implementing Agency, presented the PPF4Ukraine, its organizational set-up, objectives, operational model, progress to date and next steps.
Swiss industry representatives, including Ms Anthenien Doris, Country Desk Manager Ukraine, Swissmem, Mr Bekim Tahiri, Global Sales Executive, Hitachi, Mr Hartmann Peter, CEO, HFS, Mr Antonio Hernández, Sales Director, Mecana, and Mr Finn Wirth, Lead Technical Affairs, Swissrail, presented Swiss technologies relevant to the reconstruction of Ukraine.
The event was moderated by Mr Jesper Karup Pedersen, Technical Director at Implementing Agency.
Other Ukrainian ministries than MinDev, other municipalities than Kryvyi Rih and Vinnytsia and many International Financial Institutions and donors were represented, as well.
All participants were eager to make PPF4Ukraine a success, benefiting the Ukrainian municipalities in which it operates and serving as a source of inspiration for all involved in Ukraine’s reconstruction.
